The Silver Chair


“The Silver Chair” is a magical, fantasy-themed book written by C.S. Lewis,  and is the 6th book of the Narnia series.  “The Silver Chair” brings the readers on a journey with the three main characters - Jill, Eustace, and Puddlegum, on a quest to find the missing prince of Narnia.  It enchants the readers with its striking imagery, world-building, and captivating plot.


The book fuels the readers’ imaginations through descriptive language that involves all five senses.  The contrast between the dreary real-life world and the magical land of Narnia makes the magic even more meaningful.  The portrayal of the real world consists of bleak adults who do not care for the children while Narnia is filled with unique creatures of all shapes, sizes, and colors. As we follow the protagonists on their journey, we witness their development as characters.


Two of the main characters, Eustace Scrubb and Jill Pole, meet at their school.  Eustace has been to Narnia in a previous book, and so the two try to enter the other world and eventually succeed.  After meeting Puddlegum, a marsh-wiggle who plans to assist them, they set off on their exciting journey.  The constant banter yet cooperation between the characters create an interesting dynamic as they try to fulfill their task to find the missing prince.  Lewis beautifully wrote the character and relationship developments as we see them slowly warm up to each other.


The book keeps readers on their toes as crucial information is revealed bit by bit, leaving the readers with time to wonder and create theories of their own before big twists with large impacts on the story.  Some twists do seem cliche and predictable, but the way they were executed still evokes feelings of thrill and shock.  The plot consists of not only absurd obstacles, but also conflict between the characters and their beliefs which keeps readers in a constant state of awe and having the strong desire to know what happens next.


The humanity of the characters underscores themes of teamwork, hard work, and perseverance, emphasizing that any goal can be achieved no matter how absurd it may seem.  Even in the most intense, gut-wrenching moments, the characters learn to help bring each other up no matter their differences.  The rich, fantastical, alluring world of Narnia is described in intricate detail to the point where not only the characters, but the readers find themselves lost in Narnia too.


In short, “The Silver Chair,” by C.S. Lewis is a masterfully made piece of literature that brings us to the wonderful world of Narnia, its characters, and captivating plot that keeps the readers on edge.  The enthralling scenarios are described in such detail that leaves you flipping from page to page wondering what could possibly happen next.  That paired with the humanity of the characters - even if some aren’t human, add sheer levels of morality and emotion.  Despite its few predictable plot points, “The Silver Chair,” is the perfect book for fantasy lovers of all ages.

 I haven’t written a blog for quite a long time, and I also haven’t attended aep class for 3 weeks because I went to vacation in Boracay and there was the Musicals and the most recent one was the Holy week, to be honest I dont really remember what we did for aep for the past few weeks I was in class and as long as I can remember we did scrabble and did our seatwork. I dont know what to write about since I dont have anything to talk about the class since I was absent for quite a long time, anyways for the past few weeks I was  absent from aep class I did some cool activities and visited two different islands.  Roughly two weeks ago, I went to Boracay for vacation since it was Eid so we decided to go there for a week I had so much fun there and I really enjoyed it because I went snorkelling and did some other water sports activities. Now the second time I was absent for aep was because of the musicals, it was techinacally a holiday but I think I kinda enjoyed it unfortunate...

Helloooo!!! How is everyone?? Yup, I am late again, like always — and this time, I really am not sure what to write, as I am constantly getting demolished every day with Cambridge. If you were wondering where I was all this time… well, I was just doing past papers!! OKAY — so this blog was due weeks ago, and the reason I missed it (it’s not procrastination this time!!) is that I was absent during the last two weeks of classes that semester. For one of them, we had our stats mock for Cambridge, which I wonderfully failed, and for the next absence… I don't even remember what happened to me. Maybe I was just dead doing all the past papers. Sorry, Miss Disa — I began procrastinating midway!! Well, I’m going to finish this now. This semester, we started doing lessons on environmental words. It was a pretty easy chapter and fun lessons! End and the start of term!

Helloooo everyone! Welcome with another blast! See, your favorite blogger is not late this time!!! And that is because it's just the start of another term, and the workload from school is quite light. Can you believe it's the last term already?? I am still in disbelief—only 2/3 of grade 11 is left, and then our final year of high school... I don't even want to think about it! We have learned a lot of things in AEP last term, including discovering new games and learning a lot more of Miss Disa's fun anecdotes. AEP this year has taught me a lot of technical terms as we have been getting lessons on very niche and specific topics. You know how a word appears a lot when you newly learn it? Now, due to my expansion of vocabulary, I started seeing the words I am learning everywhere, and that brings a bit of peace in me, as I think, well, I am learning something.
