AEP Book Report Trimester 1 (Book 2) - Summer Valdez

“The Last Battle,” by C.S. Lewis is the enthralling finale of the Narnia book series.  Carrying the typical enchanting, fantastical-style storytelling prominent in the series, “The Last Battle,” is about a corrupt Ape - who manages to manipulate all of Narnia, except the brave heroes.  Every page of the book, readers are kept on the edge of their seats as the stakes grow higher and higher.

The book starts with an opening unlike the previous books - this story begins with an ape and a donkey.  As the two navigate through the vivid scenery surrounding them, their personalities are established wonderfully.  The use of contrasting themes between the two characters invokes deep emotions for the readers: pity for the donkey and hatred for the ape.

The author makes good use of suspense to add flavor to every scene.  As the ape and donkey find a dead lion’s body, the ape’s twisted mind previously established leads to a devious plan that would sow chaos upon The Land of Narnia.  The ape, poetically representing the devilish aspects of human nature, forces the poor donkey to act as Narnia’s god and manipulate every unknowing creature.

In the beginning, The Land of Narnia is represented differently from all the previous books.  Quiet, humble, and peaceful.  Emotive language painting the sight leaves readers solemn as they realize that Narnia is now not the powerful wonder it once was.  The contrast of Narnia between all the previous books and this one helps solidify in the readers’ minds that this truly is the finale.

As the lionhearted cast of heroes is formed, a sense of familiarity lingers, as two of the main characters have been featured in previous books.  Along with this familiarity is a sense of attachment, solidifying the readers’ anticipation on success.  Though, success does not come very easily. The book is a great example of this concept.

Challenge after challenge is thrown upon Eustace, Jill, Jewel, Puzzle, and King Tirian. As a result, the cast forms bonds and the characters are developed naturally.  The story becomes increasingly tense as it goes on, keeping the readers in a constant state of thrill and suspense.  Several secrets are kept from the readers, producing mystery and wonder.

This book subtly hints at the corruption of human beings, showcasing how deceit and lies run in society smoothly.  The contrast between the manipulators and the heroes is prominent, and showcases how sticking to what you believe in, rather than listening to others to appease them, will end up doing more justice.  The worst one can do to themselves is to become a puppet for others to toy with. Despite the whole world seemingly turning against the main characters, they fight for what they believe in, because they are confident that what they know is right.

“The Last Battle,” is the perfect ending to the Narnia series, which has never failed to be magical and otherworldly.   The morals of the story inspire the readers to believe for themselves and to not be deceived by those around them.  The genuine characters are represented so beautifully and naturally, they feel real to the readers.  This finale is a love letter to any reader who has enjoyed the series, and as sorrowful as it may be, the perfect goodbye to the wonderful Land of Narnia.

Blog 3.3 Almira

I haven’t written a blog for quite a long time, and I also haven’t attended aep class for 3 weeks because I went to vacation in Boracay and there was the Musicals and the most recent one was the Holy week, to be honest I dont really remember what we did for aep for the past few weeks I was in class and as long as I can remember we did scrabble and did our seatwork. I dont know what to write about since I dont have anything to talk about the class since I was absent for quite a long time, anyways for the past few weeks I was  absent from aep class I did some cool activities and visited two different islands.  Roughly two weeks ago, I went to Boracay for vacation since it was Eid so we decided to go there for a week I had so much fun there and I really enjoyed it because I went snorkelling and did some other water sports activities. Now the second time I was absent for aep was because of the musicals, it was techinacally a holiday but I think I kinda enjoyed it unfortunate...

Helloooo!!! How is everyone?? Yup, I am late again, like always — and this time, I really am not sure what to write, as I am constantly getting demolished every day with Cambridge. If you were wondering where I was all this time… well, I was just doing past papers!! OKAY — so this blog was due weeks ago, and the reason I missed it (it’s not procrastination this time!!) is that I was absent during the last two weeks of classes that semester. For one of them, we had our stats mock for Cambridge, which I wonderfully failed, and for the next absence… I don't even remember what happened to me. Maybe I was just dead doing all the past papers. Sorry, Miss Disa — I began procrastinating midway!! Well, I’m going to finish this now. This semester, we started doing lessons on environmental words. It was a pretty easy chapter and fun lessons! Too bad I missed most of them. Anyway, on the first day, Miss Disa gave us some random cut-out words that go together. Me, Meral, and Sashmeen were in ...

End and the start of term!

Helloooo everyone! Welcome with another blast! See, your favorite blogger is not late this time!!! And that is because it's just the start of another term, and the workload from school is quite light. Can you believe it's the last term already?? I am still in disbelief—only 2/3 of grade 11 is left, and then our final year of high school... I don't even want to think about it! We have learned a lot of things in AEP last term, including discovering new games and learning a lot more of Miss Disa's fun anecdotes. AEP this year has taught me a lot of technical terms as we have been getting lessons on very niche and specific topics. You know how a word appears a lot when you newly learn it? Now, due to my expansion of vocabulary, I started seeing the words I am learning everywhere, and that brings a bit of peace in me, as I think, well, I am learning something. We had worksheets on Healthcare, Crime and Punishment, Business, and Politics. My favorite among them was the health...
