"Woman in STEM"-more like Woman in Distress (Blog 1.2)

Hello! I know, I’m late, but I’m back for good this time. How have you all been? Personally, things have been pretty rough here. Being in Grade 11 is testing me in every possible way, from my sense of self-worth to my belief in my ablities. The workload and study pressure are unreal. As I write this blog, I’m carrying multiple B’s on my coolsis, something that’s never happened before. Can life just go back to when A*s could be earned so efforlessly?

In the middle of these intense finals (many of which I might have failed!) and endless assessments, I almost forgot to update you on what’s happening in AEP. Because of some very expected typhoons, two of our AEP classes were held online! One of these sessions even included our final exam—a huge 90-point test. The first part wasn’t too bad; Miss Disa gave us a list of words to study beforehand, and we just had to match them to the correct definitions. But the second part—a word search—completely messed with my head! At least I got my score for the definitions section pretty quickly: 55/60, which I think is solid. I’m still waiting on my word search score, but I’m hoping it’s enough for me to pass.

The terms on our finals were mostly words we’d encountered in our worksheets from our lesson on politics. I’d say I’m a semi-political person—I keep up with the news from different countries and sometimes give my opinions on it. So, now I’ve got a few more words I might actually use in real conversations. We finished our worksheet using a new approach. First, Miss Disa went through the definitions of each word, and we jotted them down together for the first exercise. The rest we did on our own, and we wrapped up pretty quickly. One term we focused on a lot was "gerrymandering," which has to do with manipulating votes. Miss Disa even sent us a link all about it—it’s about gaining an unfair advantage by redrawing voting districts. Politics is complicated, but I enjoyed learning some new words related to it.

Funny thing: during our third week of class this term, we decided to play Wordle again after a long break. You’d think we’d be pros by now, given all the harder word games we play to warm up every day. But no! We lost the wordle. We ended with the word "DODGY," only to find out the answer was "MOMMY," which was a bit embarrassing since we’d guessed it earlier but dismissed it because it didn’t feel like a “real” word.

So, those are the highlights of this term so far. Sorry for the delay in updates! I’m hoping I can pull my grades up in AEP, but in my other subjects, I feel pretty doomed. As I go back to questioning all my life choices, my subject selections, and ultimately just stare at the ceiling contemplating my entire existence, I hope you’re all doing better than I am. One last bit of advice: don’t choose STEM if you want a life. That’s it for now. Take care, everyone.

I haven’t written a blog for quite a long time, and I also haven’t attended aep class for 3 weeks because I went to vacation in Boracay and there was the Musicals and the most recent one was the Holy week, to be honest I dont really remember what we did for aep for the past few weeks I was in class and as long as I can remember we did scrabble and did our seatwork. I dont know what to write about since I dont have anything to talk about the class since I was absent for quite a long time, anyways for the past few weeks I was  absent from aep class I did some cool activities and visited two different islands.  Roughly two weeks ago, I went to Boracay for vacation since it was Eid so we decided to go there for a week I had so much fun there and I really enjoyed it because I went snorkelling and did some other water sports activities. Now the second time I was absent for aep was because of the musicals, it was techinacally a holiday but I think I kinda enjoyed it unfortunate...

Helloooo!!! How is everyone?? Yup, I am late again, like always — and this time, I really am not sure what to write, as I am constantly getting demolished every day with Cambridge. If you were wondering where I was all this time… well, I was just doing past papers!! OKAY — so this blog was due weeks ago, and the reason I missed it (it’s not procrastination this time!!) is that I was absent during the last two weeks of classes that semester. For one of them, we had our stats mock for Cambridge, which I wonderfully failed, and for the next absence… I don't even remember what happened to me. Maybe I was just dead doing all the past papers. Sorry, Miss Disa — I began procrastinating midway!! Well, I’m going to finish this now. This semester, we started doing lessons on environmental words. It was a pretty easy chapter and fun lessons! Too bad I missed most of them. Anyway, on the first day, Miss Disa gave us some random cut-out words that go together. Me, Meral, and Sashmeen were in ...

End and the start of term!

Helloooo everyone! Welcome with another blast! See, your favorite blogger is not late this time!!! And that is because it's just the start of another term, and the workload from school is quite light. Can you believe it's the last term already?? I am still in disbelief—only 2/3 of grade 11 is left, and then our final year of high school... I don't even want to think about it! We have learned a lot of things in AEP last term, including discovering new games and learning a lot more of Miss Disa's fun anecdotes. AEP this year has taught me a lot of technical terms as we have been getting lessons on very niche and specific topics. You know how a word appears a lot when you newly learn it? Now, due to my expansion of vocabulary, I started seeing the words I am learning everywhere, and that brings a bit of peace in me, as I think, well, I am learning something. We had worksheets on Healthcare, Crime and Punishment, Business, and Politics. My favorite among them was the health...
