During the last meeting, we continued our discussions regarding how to properly structure a college essay while also choosing different values that resonate with our person the most. Miss encouraged everyone to think about their personal values and how those connect to their life stories. The goal was to help everyone create essays that not only flow well but also reflect who they really are and what they believe in. By mixing a solid structure with genuine personal insights, it was aimed to help everyone write essays that really stand out to colleges.
It took me a while to chose values for myself since I struggled to think of which ones resonate with me the most. Some options seemingly "jump" at you easily, while others seem to just blend in. It took me a while to finally pick ones that suit me the most before I settled for mine.
We had to pick 10 different options first and I picked: My country, Adventure, Laughter, Art, Knowledge, Independence, Challenges, Privacy, Equity, and Healthy boundaries. I couldn't think much of a reason as to why these values stuck out to me the most but I felt as though they are the ones that best represent me as a person.
Then Miss (I think?) told us to pick 3 values from what we have chosen that we consider our top three. I chose: Knowledge, Privacy, and Challenges as the three that I think I have upheld most in my life.
The speaker guy specified that we have to pick 5 different values that we wanted more of in our life. Now, I wasn't aware that we had to pick from the options we have chosen before (since the ones I chose were values that I consider are already fulfilled somehow), so I chose values that I haven't picked yet: Excitement, Love, Authenticity, Loyalty, Gratitude.
The last I remember of it is when the speaker from the video told us to pick one last value from our list as our top 1, the one we consider the most important value for us, for at least today.
I chose: Excitement.
We were promptly told to explain why this value was so important to us and how we can start maintaining it more in my life. I briefly wrote on the paper how this value represents my want for something more in my life, how I strive to have more passion and fun. It's a very abstract idea, honestly, but it was what spoke to me most at the time.
Anyways, that was all for this meeting.
Thank you for reading!
