My AEP job interview class had to do a great and interesting job resume: create a fictional resume for Atticus Finch, the character that I chose the lawyer from "To Kill a Mockingbird". This helped me understand how a good resume can be written as well as led me to some important qualities about a good lawyer.
First, I made the resume look real. In education, I put Atticus at a well-known law school so he could represent intelligence. Experience is where he wrote about the case of defending Tom Robinson; in this part, I have taken into account the skills applied to the work such as thinking critically, speaking clearly, and standing up for justice. Creating a fictional resume for Atticus Finch was an interesting and challenging experience. It required me to think about how to present his career in a professional and structured way while making it realistic for a lawyer from his time period.
This is one of the biggest challenges that I faced-to balance historical accuracy with modern resume writing. As resumes today have a specific format, I had to decide how to adapt Atticus's experience in a way that made sense. Listing his education and legal experience was pretty straightforward, but I had to think carefully about how to describe his skills and achievements in a way that fit both his character and professional background.
It was actually my favorite section to write-the skills. I used words like "Strong Morals," "Public Speaking," and "Empathy," which truly applied to both Atticus and real lawyers. This really made me think about what the actual skills and values are in a job. Choosing the Job & Company After drafting the resume, I needed to decide which job Atticus Finch would apply to. As his reputation goes, he is out there protecting the defenseless and dealing with injustices, so he would seek employment in a law firm
This assignment was really helpful because it taught me how to present the skills and experiences clearly. I also realized that a resume is not just for listing jobs. It's about showing who you are and what you believe in. overall; this has really been a great learning experience that will be useful in the future when applying for jobs and interviews.
