Incoming AEP update...
Signing off,
Returning from the two-week holidays, and stepping into the AEP classroom, I found myself entering in the middle of a story being told by Miss Disa. Trying to piece together the randomized details, I gathered that Miss was talking about the money she had "lost" for a plane ticket she'd already paid for- essentially, the money the airline had yet to refund her.
It's always nice to hear Miss talk about her adventures, whether it's about a Lazada package arriving at her door while she wasn't home or her runs in the mountains. These little anecdotes remind me that teachers don't live at school- something I wholeheartedly believed when I was younger.
Anyway, the rest of the day proceeded calmly. We circled around the Scrabble table and played a round of who-had-their-breakfast-that-day enough to coin letters into words. I'm unsure which group had won, but considering it wasn't my group, it doesn't count anyway :D.
The following week, we commenced class with a game of Waffle, quickly completed it, and then leveled up to Deluxe Waffle. New year, a new unit for AEP! Miss Disa announced we'd be learning words about Crime and Punishment. Happy to hear this, I was ecstatic to learn the exact definitions of words I often come across while watching crime documentaries.
The lexis generally looked familiar, but there were some interesting ones I hadn't heard of before, such as "hooliganism" and "embezzlement". We took turns matching the definitions to the words, which was quite fun. We ended class with Miss discussing the correct matches, and I took a mental note to memorize them in case we had a quiz on this unit the next week.
Alas, my mental note betrayed me. Wednesday morning, I knew I was forgetting something but couldn't quite put my finger on what it was. Finally, it hit me! The possible quiz was today! Thus, I memorized the words on the bus ride to school. The amount of times I've done this surely exceeds the times I haven't- I think I might secretly enjoy the rush.
We started class with a new warm-up game called "Duotrigordle"- a word game featuring 32 boards simultaneously instead of just one. It wasn't as difficult as it seemed, but then again as I was trying to figure out the words, we had already moved on to the next one. It turned out there wasn't a quiz after all, but Miss handed out the Unit 4 worksheets so we could fill out all we could remember. And here I must leave you with a cliffhanger.
That's all for this blog. As always, thank you for reading this and I'm hoping to see you in the next one!
Signing off,
Meral
