***Flawless — Leo's Blog 1.2

Blog 11.1.2. Another fortnight, another blog! Today's blog will include the words from the AEP quiz, just to quiz me a little! So, allow us to embark  on this journey to learning a bunch of lexis for business, which we will hopefully be remunerated  for well in the coming quiz and exam (if there is one). So, last week, I ended up being a little tardy for last week's convention  unfortunately. However, I came just as the morning warm-up (Wordle) was finished, and everyone was sitting quietly, mitigating the pain of hearing the purveyor of words (Ms. Disa) speak to us while our blank minds tried to conceive any form of language in the middle of the morning. It was like she was trying to touch our intangible  minds by gracing us with some tranche of words. Then, we began by typing in words into the infamous wheel of doom, which stared at us from the screen like a bank that was about to repossess  our unpaid taxes! We capitulated all of our favorite words onl...

Reflection 3 - Hong

After the concept of mental health, it is natural that physical health comes next. Physical health is basically the status of your body if mental health is the status of your brain. While mental health is important, physical health shouldn't be looked down upon because it really affects your lifestyle and people will treat you differently depending on whether you look like DiCaprio or a whale. As people say, body positivity is good and all until you die of diabetes or malnutrition. The article we were told to read had information on what causes poor physical health and what causes good physical health. They were talking about the lifestyles of people and the food consumed in different regions. The passage was just mainly talking smack about Americans and their filthy lifestyles comparing them to the Japanese who consume healthier meals. Other than that, there were mentions about exercising and frequent workouts to keep your body in check. While the article talked about all of thes...

Reflection 2 - Hong

Mental wellbeing was never really my top priority in life. I never really bothered to think of anything regarding this as I'm pretty much satisfied with what I have. Apparently some aren't so satisfied like I am. Regardless of that, we had our second lesson regarding mental health. I've always thought stuff like depression is just people being sad or people overexaggerating their emotions just to attention. Matter of fact I used to have this mindset since 7th grade that I constantly made fun of this subject. While I haven't really changed my viewpoint that much on the subject, I did learn some things about mental health which I previously didn't know. The article I had been given talked about reasons why ones mental health could diminish and methods on how to improve your wellbeing. Mostly it talked about the basic stuff that everyone knows, such as proper sleep schedules, having social interactions, and performing meditation. One thing that really stuck out to me ...

Reflection 1 - Hong

First day of actual lessons for AEP in Grade 12, I did barely any of my blogs last year so I have almost no clue on how this works. We talked about time management, nothing too crazy, it was more like a place where most of us realised how crap our time management was. Like half the class basically had this massive issue regarding their time. I don't even know how some of the other students manage to pass while having a schedule so horrid. It just started by us getting papers handed with an article regarding time management and how to improve yours. I happened to get the longest one out of spite which I skimmed through until I realised that about half of the whole paper was just a bunch of ads. I basically read through everything necessary just to notice the whole passage is about how the writer has this deep hatred for phones or something, so i just started drawing beards onto the picture of the author. There was a bit of yapping here and there but we were pretty much forced to shu...

AEP Book Report Semester 1 - Summer Valdez

The Silver Chair “The Silver Chair” is a magical, fantasy-themed book written by C.S. Lewis,  and is the 6th book of the Narnia series.  “The Silver Chair” brings the readers on a journey with the three main characters - Jill, Eustace, and Puddlegum, on a quest to find the missing prince of Narnia.  It enchants the readers with its striking imagery, world-building, and captivating plot. The book fuels the readers’ imaginations through descriptive language that involves all five senses.  The contrast between the dreary real-life world and the magical land of Narnia makes the magic even more meaningful.  The portrayal of the real world consists of bleak adults who do not care for the children while Narnia is filled with unique creatures of all shapes, sizes, and colors. As we follow the protagonists on their journey, we witness their development as characters. Two of the main characters, Eustace Scrubb and Jill Pole, meet at their school.  Eustace has been to...

Saksham Kumar- The Interconnection of Diet, Mental Health, and Well-Being: A Personal Reflection

Today’s lecture on the theme "We Are What We Eat" was particularly thought-provoking, as it resonated deeply with my personal experiences and ongoing research interests. The discussion brought to light how our diet is intricately linked to our overall well-being, not just physically but also emotionally and mentally. Earlier this year, from January to May, I was under immense stress due to my A-Level exams. The pressure was so intense that I lost 14 kg of weight, and my thyroid levels shot up. This, I believe, triggered intense sugar cravings, leading me to consume more sugar than usual. The consequences were noticeable—I experienced high blood sugar levels, which even began to affect my eyesight. Reflecting on this period, I can see how my diet and mental state were closely intertwined. Growing up in an Indian family, I was fortunate to have a diet rich in traditional, nourishing foods like lentils, cooked vegetables, and whole wheat bread—all home-cooked. This diet helped ...

Blog #1 - Kristine

First blog for this school year! It's only been less than a month since school started so I don't really have that much to write about. Anyways, on the first day of school we played a couple of warm-up games (Wordle and something else if I remember correctly). After that we read a DOGOnews article about cheese rolling in Gloucestershire. Cheese rolling seems interesting and pretty fun (though you might break some bones doing it). Then we did a reading comprehension seatwork thing, which was hard for me since I got confused in some of the parts. Thankfully Miss Disa only made us do 1 question. That was basically everything we did for the first meeting. I can't really add anything else for this blog since I was absent on the second meeting so I guess this is it for now. Thank you for reading!

Blog #1 - Selim

This blog will discuss everything we have done in the past 3 weeks. Every week we start the day with a game from a website called New York Times Games. We played games like Wordle and Strands. Those games are quite challenging for the most bit, but easy on the other hand as well. Especially the hard mode Ms. Disa puts. After that, we did our reading activities, in which we read some DOGOnews about some very fascinating things we had never tackled before. Then, we did our seatwork about Skimming and Scanning which was kind of difficult but not really. And we end our classes with an Infinite wordle game.

Blog #1- Almira

Today’s AEP class was a blend of engaging activities and interesting content. We started with a lively game of Wordle, which was both challenging and enjoyable. Then, we read a fascinating article about the cheese rolling competition, a quirky event that turned out to be surprisingly intriguing. Afterwards, we tackled some seatwork. Despite the fun activities earlier, I struggled with sleepiness during this part of the class. It was a great day overall, though, and I’m looking forward to more engaging lessons in the future!

Eternal Sunshine — Leo's Blog 1.1

Blog 11.1.1. What a miraculous blog number that has ever graced upon the typings of my dusty keyboard that I’ve been typing these blogs on since grade 9! Good morning Ms. Disa! Good morning grades 7, 8, 9, 10s and 12s, for I am the only one that will be filling you in for this years’ grade 11’s blogs! So, get ready for blog eleven-point-one-point-one! This year, I’d love to make my blogs a little more unique than the last, and that is incorporating relevant song titles as my blog titles, just to give it a little bit more personality. Although, my blogs are already personal as is, aren’t they? Yes, they will relate to the topic of the blog; for example, this week’s blog title is going to be … “eternal sunshine” by Ariana Grande, because, knowing I’ve got no more essays to write, I’m living in bliss. Since we’re starting the year with a bunch of ones, let’s get to the FIRST thing that came up on our AEP agenda. During the first day, we had a short orientation to how our classes were goi...

Reflection 2 -- SEM 1 -- Adi

For today's discussion, we discussed on the conventions of mental wellbeing and the ways to improve it. I was able to learn a lot of different perspectives to mental health and how to understand my own mind through the conversations that Miss Disa started during our talk. The several articles discussed the different methods that can be done to help improve mental wellbeing as well as concepts that could help you familiarize yourself with what you may need to do to improve on said mental health. The first article was rather basic with the topic primarily focused on methods often used to aid in improving mental health. This includes the basic topics of resting and reaching out to other people regarding one's own personal problems. The article puts emphasis in finding community and solidarity in other people.  The second article focuses on gratitude exercises to help with self-confidence and self-reassurance. This particular article focuses more on positive emotions while mainta...

Reflection 1 — SEM 1 — Adi

We are back to another year of AEP!!!! I would like to recap a bit on what happened over the summer. Overall... pretty much nothing. I went to the mountains in Atok and stopped by Batangas for a small day trip but that was most of what I did. I spent my summer at home, sleeping, drawing, writing. Not much excitement there. Being in Grade 12, it's not that much different from how it was in Grade 11. It feels a bit more relaxed now, somehow, since every lesson is limited to only one for each session and we're only discussing about one thing for every class now. I will say, it's been quite a good ride for now.  In our first proper discussion, we were conversing about the conventions of time management and how to properly apply methods that can improve your time management. Some of the methods that I remember include keeping a calendar, prioritizing tasks, knowing when to take breaks, etc. These methods are often rinsed and repeated time and time again as there's really not...
